Cables and Connectors
The UCP series are non-modular, without a modular option, so the supplied cables from the PSU are:
- One 65cm 24-pin ATX power cable
- Two 65cm 4+4-pin EPS 12V CPU power cables
- One 65cm and one 70cm 6-pin PCI-Express cable
- Two PCI-Express cables with an 8-pin connector at 50cm and 6-pin connector at 65cm
- One molex cable with three connectors at 45cm, 60cm and 75cm
- One molex cable with two connectors at 45cm, 60cm and a floppy connector at 75cm
- Three SATA cables with three connectors at 45cm, 60cm and 75cm.
The black braid used is generally high quality, although some of the applications leave a lot to be desired as they hardly fit that well. Instead of gluing the ends of the braid into place under the heatshrink, Cooler Master zip ties them into place which in turn compresses the cables together. The 24-pin ATX cable braid also stops a lengthy 8cm away from the connector as well.

The two 4+4-pin cables mean all options are covered - from single 4-pin to two 8-pins in workstation systems, and there are six PCI-Express connectors - two solid 8-pin and four 6-pin which should cover pretty much every current multi-GPU arrangement possible. Two of the 6-pins are a bit unsightly, dangling off the end of the 8-pins, but it's either that or
another cable to add to the nest of snakes erupting from the PSU.

There are relatively few Molex connectors, with the emphasis rightly put on SATA now with a ratio of nearly 2:1, however there's no differentiation in lengths meaning all the cables either have to be tidied (an inevitability with non-modular PSUs) or everything is one length away (highly unlikely unless your case is spherical - a potential mod, anyone?). Some of the cables like the ATX and CPU EPS 12V are exceedingly long at 65 to 70cm, but since Cooler Master predominantly designs PSUs for its own cases, it's worth noting that premium models like the ATCS 840 and Cosmos feature base mounted PSUs, which need these cables to be longer in order to reach.
While we don't review modular against non-modular because the two market needs are entirely different, it's unfortunate that Cooler Master hasn't seen fit to offer a modular or semi-modular option because there are a
lot of cables to use and potentially tidy and hide from this PSU.
